The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released results for the 2015 May/June SSCE according to media reports and mostly withheld results for states that were indebted to the examination body.

The WAEC registrar in Nigeria, Mr Charles Eguridu, was reported to have said that less than 39% of students had a credit in Mathematics and English. He made the statements at their WAEC office in Yaba Lagos.. Those are the 2 most important subjects in WAEC exams showing that students did not do averagely well in the exams.

A total number of 1,593,442 candidates had sat for the examinations which held from May to June this year but only 616,370 of them had at least a credit in Mathematics and English. Although it was an improvement over last year's performance during which only 31% had credit passes in those 2 subjects, it was still not good enough.

Compared to 2014 during which 1,692,435 candidates sat for the exams, the number in 2015 at 1,593,442 showed a reduction in candidates but an increase in credit passes.

Results for the recently released exam will be made available online at WAEC's official results website
